Trying to make my life more “Simple”

I have a confession.  Do you know how hamsters get on those little wheels and run and run and run just as fast as their little legs can run but yet they never get anywhere?  I have to admit, that is my take on housework.  I feel like I am spinning and spinning and spinning but nothing around me ever really changes.

I feel like I work hard.  I’m constantly trying to get my house in order but it is such a struggle for me most days.

I recently read a book that has just been released entitled, “Simple Living: Thirty Days to Less Stuff and More Life.”  The book is written simply and has small practical ways to change the way you live your life that can make huge differences in the way you manage it.

Tomorrow is a new day.  And I’m excited to start anew with my “simple” tools in hand, ready to make some healthy changes in my life.

I want a simple life!

P.S.   The book is on sale through Amazon for a limited time for only $ .99!!!

One hundred pushups aren’t enough!

I’ve been working on my challenge to conquer 100 pushups and am happy with the results so far.  However, I’ve decided it’s not enough.  So I’ve decided to add on the 200 sit-ups challenge and the 200 squats challenge as well.

I’m excited to get in shape and love the idea of this not costing me much.  I’ve not been one to join a gym just because I can’t stand the thought of spending money on something when it’s really so easy to do for free (call me cheap)!!

With a little self-discipline and motivation to keep at it I know I will be a happier, healthier me!

Free iPhone app!

July 8, 2012 in Health, Money, Things that make me happy

If you caught my post about my near perfect shopping experience, you might remember me mentioning the free iPhone app that I received at my last trip to Starbucks.  Since that time I’ve had the opportunity to try out the app and I have to say I really enjoyed it.

It’s called Walk Tracker Pro and I took it with me on a recent walk with my kids.  The app kept track of the 2.08 miles, average pace of 19:18 (hey…I had three kids with me and we had to stop a few times), start time, number of feet climbed and average speed.  It also has options to track running and cycling as well and I look forward to using those someday soon.

I love trying out new iPhone apps and when they are free all the better!!

My shower shines like never before!

I don’t know about you, but cleaning the shower has always been one of my most dreaded tasks!  I hated getting out the scouring powder to clean the tub.  Then feeling like I needed to don my hazmat protective gear just to spray down the tiles in hopes that it would take care of the mold that inevitably started growing in the grout lines.

Well I recently came across a site that had a recipe for a homemade shower cleaner that has completely changed my perspective on that dreaded task.

“Normal is Broke. Be Weird!”

Life has a way of keeping you on your toes, doesn’t it?  In our family and so many others across the nation we are all having to find creative ways to face the challenges of this current economy.

A year or so ago my husband and I participated in a seminar at our church called Financial Peace University.  Though I can’t say that we 100% followed all of the principles set forth by Dave Ramsey, I gotta say, given this guys personal track record, I think he’s on to something.
